Club Nautico della Vela

Club Nautico della Vela is based at Borgo Marinari, next to Castel dell'Ovo. It was founded on 11 August 1901 by a group of Savoia members who left over a disagreement on rowing technique. The clubhouse, about 500 m² on two floors, includes a lounge, bar and restaurant with a terrace, changing rooms and a sail store for dinghies and canoes; the pontoon holds about fifteen sailing boats. The sailing school, recognised by the Italian Sailing Federation, offers Optimist and Laser courses for young sailors, offshore courses for adults and boating licence training. Among other events, the club organises the Trofeo Martinelli and the Trofeo dell'Amicizia. In 1976 CONI awarded it the Gold Star for sporting merit.
